IoT and Embedded Systems Services.

Connected systems that bring physical operations into secure digital visibility and control.

What IoT and embedded systems development covers

This discipline connects physical devices to software you can operate at scale: firmware on microcontrollers, gateways at the edge, ingestion pipelines, fleet management and the dashboards operators actually use. Neovantra works across product prototyping, production firmware, connectivity and the cloud side that turns device traffic into operational decisions.

The distinguishing constraint is that a bug cannot always be fixed by redeploying — devices are in the field, occasionally unreachable and sometimes unsafe. Design assumptions follow from that.

Firmware and device software

Firmware is built in C, C++, Rust or vendor SDKs depending on the hardware, with a modular structure that separates hardware access from application logic so boards can be revised without rewriting behaviour. Power budgets are treated as a first-class requirement for battery devices: sampling strategy, radio duty cycle and sleep states are measured, not estimated. Real-time constraints are validated with instrumentation where timing matters.

Safety-relevant paths include watchdog recovery, fail-safe states on communication loss, input validation on every external message and defined behaviour when sensors disagree.

Connectivity and edge

Connectivity choices — MQTT, HTTPS, LoRaWAN, BLE, cellular — are matched to range, power, bandwidth and infrastructure reality. Gateways buffer and reconcile when links drop, applying store-and-forward so a night of outages does not lose a day of data. Edge processing filters and aggregates before transmission, because sending every sample from ten thousand devices is a cost problem long before it is a storage problem.

Device identity and security

Each device gets a unique identity — certificates or secure elements rather than shared passwords — with mutual authentication, encrypted transport and rotation policies. OTA update channels are signed and staged, with rollback if health checks fail after deployment. Provisioning flows are written so field installers cannot accidentally assign the wrong identity, and decommissioning revokes device credentials deliberately rather than leaving them live.

Fleet operations and dashboards

Operators need to answer three questions fast: which devices are healthy, what changed, and what needs a person. The platform provides device inventory with version and configuration state, fleet-wide update campaigns with progress and abort controls, alerting keyed to real failure modes, and audit logs for every configuration change. Historian storage keeps time-series data queryable with retention tiers that respect cost.

From prototype to production

We plan the unglamorous transition: supply-chain-aware firmware architecture, factory provisioning, certification support for radio and regional requirements, manufacturability review with the hardware partner, and pilot batches instrumented before volume. Documentation covers bring-up, test fixtures and the failure statistics to watch during ramp.

Timelines and commercials

A proof of concept on reference hardware typically takes six to ten weeks; a production-ready system with fleet management commonly runs four to eight months depending on hardware readiness and certification. Prototype phases are fixed-price, development runs as a dedicated team, and long-term support continues as a retainer covering firmware maintenance, dependency updates and field issue response.

Frequently asked questions

Can you work with our chosen hardware?

Yes, and usually we should — hardware is normally selected before software. We review the chosen MCU, radios and sensors for toolchain support, memory headroom and OTA feasibility, and flag constraints before they become schedule problems.

How do you update devices in the field?

Signed over-the-air updates delivered in staged campaigns, with health verification after install and automatic rollback if checks fail. Devices that cannot be recovered remotely are identified during design so they at least fail safe.

What if connectivity is unreliable at the site?

Devices buffer locally with store-and-forward semantics and idempotent ingestion, edge gateways aggregate what matters, and the platform reconciles late or duplicated data rather than assuming perfect ordering.

What does a typical first phase cost?

A feasibility prototype usually runs USD 20,000 to USD 45,000; production firmware with cloud platform and fleet management typically starts around USD 90,000 and scales with hardware variance and certification requirements.
